Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and I've been doing a little research on here about my internet connection. I'm currently a Mediacom internet customer and I've been having a lot of latency issues lately since Mediacom came and buried a new main line from one of the taps in the neighborhood to the tap in front of my house. Long story short, my signal levels without any splitters/attenuators on the line are DS +11db to 12db and US 32db to 33db. A tech came out and said that my modem just needed to be padded. That brought my levels to DS +2db to +3db and US 41db to 42db, but I'm still having the same latency issues when gaming online as before. My DS SNR is 39 and I was told by customer service that the US SNR was around 37. I'm aware that all the attenuator does is just make the numbers look better on the modem side, but does nothing for the signal coming in and going out. The tech said that the signal levels at the tap in front of my house were normal, but I don't think they are. Would anyone happen to know what the optimum signal levels should be on the lines coming from the tap?
