Just had MediaCom internet installed today, signed up for the 100 down/20 up service. The installer hooks it all up and seems to be kind of rushing me to sign the paperwork so he can take off. I decide to do a speed test and I get 8 mb down and 6 up! He tells me I won't get an accurate result for "a few days" due to the storms that rolled through the area recently. After he leaves, I do a few more tests and half the time I get ridiculously slow speeds (less than 2 mb) and the other half I get either timed out or download/upload failed. I had to run some errands and when I get home I'm on my balcony and look out and the installer left a bright orange coax cable (~25 feet or so) running from the outside box across the lawn and left coiled up in the flower bed. Really? Is this what I should expect from a "professional installation"??? To be charged $49.99 for having him hook up MY modem was insulting enough, but the slow speeds and sloppy job is pretty ridiculous for a new customer.
