Long story short, I live in a rural area and recently found through the National BroadbandMap that Mediacom does in fact have lines running approximately half a mile down the road from me. I've since confirmed this through speaking with a rep over the phone. When I asked them if it were possible to extend the line they said that they would send a tech out to survey it to see if anything could be done. They responded a few days later by sending me a letter (even though they were supposed to call me) which stated that the service was not available in my area.
What I'm getting at is, is there any way to convince them to extend the line, short of spending exorbitant amounts of money to do so?
