I have had an issue with Mediacom periodically the last few months, and hopefully someone is able to help.
A few months ago, my internet connection dropped, and after many calls to support, I determined my router (ASUS RT-N66U) was not able to get a WAN IP. Mediacom sent a tech out, and they replaced the modem with a new one that had a built in router. That worked for about 2 days, and then the connection started dropping again.
I ended up purchasing my own modem (Motorola SB6141), and the issues immediately went away. I could connect any router and get online.
Fast forward to yesterday, I got the connection drop again. I reset everything, and after speaking to Mediacom support they refused to help since the modem and router are owned by me.
If I connect my laptop directly to the modem, I can get internet, but if I plug in my router, the router logs show "ISPs DHCP did not function properly" and it keeps trying. I have tried 3 different routers, and they all do the same thing.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I would love to hear them! Thanks!
