I'm looking to order MC Whole-house Tivo. I have 7 TVs to hook up and will be replacing DishTV (6 years). Before making the switch, I'm trying to figure out a few specifics for my setup:
1. Do I need two MG1 boxes and 5 minis (MG1 + 2 Mini and MG1 + 3 Mini) to get my 7 TVs working. Or can the MG1 with 6 tuners support more than 3 minis (MG1 + 7 mini). We would NEVER watch more than 3-4 TVs simultaneous, so wouldn't use up all the 6 tuners of MG1 at the same time. Tivo support says you can theoretically have 11 minis on one 6 tuner box, each mini would just compete for the tuner access when in use with only 6 tuners available at one time.
2. Is Netflix now fully supported through the MG1 and Minis w/ Mediacom?
3. Is MoCA now enabled with the MG1, so no need for an additional hardware for MoCA? I will be utilizing the coax in my house for connectivity. Every room already has it for Dish. I would put one (or perhaps the only) MG1 in my home theater, which has a hub connected to the internet (and also a phone connection there if required).
4. Is streaming supported by the MG1, so no need for the separate Streaming device? (if so, does MC provide the streaming device or I purchase from 3rd party?)
5. If I need two MG1, would BOTH MG1 and ALL MINIs be able to "pool" the DVR recordings so they could be watched in any room, and start/resume from any room to any another? Otherwise I would need to strategically place the MG1 and Mini for likely viewing scenarios.
6. Are the MG1 or Mini remotes RF or IR? This would also influence what box goes where in my setup.
7. Are the Minis provided by MC also Pace hardware, or Tivo hardware?
8. If I purchased my own Tivo DVR (e.g., Roamio), could I still use/rent the Minis from Mediacom?
9. If I purchased my own Tivo DVR (e.g., Roamio), do I lose any Mediacom services (e.g., VOD, PPP) when using a cable card? Or is there a way to add those even if using a card?
