Mediacom Data Usage Study Now is your chance to participate in a study designed to audit and continuously review the accuracy of Mediacom’s broadband usage meter. Mediacom has enlisted an independent auditor of ISP data usage meters - NetForecast- to review the Mediacom Internet data usage of selected customers over an extended period of time. The study will use NetForecast’s UMap router to capture data usage. The router’s usage measurements will be compared to the Mediacom usage meter measurements every month as another independent check of the meter’s accuracy. It will not collect any of the personal, private or browsing information of participants. We are looking for volunteers who are willing to have a NetForecast UMap home router connected to their cable modem for an extended period of time. This high-performance off-the-shelf Buffalo 450 wireless router has embedded performance testing and measurement software. It is a 450 Mbps single radio Wi-Fi router that maximizes the 2.4 GHz channel. It supports all typical router functions except the USB port and WPS. To volunteer in this study, you must have Mediacom Residential Internet service and fill out a brief survey. Participants will be selected from a cross-section of Internet service levels and regions to ensure a fair representation of Mediacom Internet customers. The selected participants will receive a monthly $7.50 credit for the duration of the study. Not all applicants will be selected, and the program can be terminated or adjusted at any time.
