so what happened this morning? (though i think its been going on for days.
today my internet is up and down with respect to being able to stay connecting to things. the modem isnt rebooting.
upon pinging anything other than my own IP the pings are failing 1-2 times every 20 seconds or so and other times its several times in a 10 second range.
doesnt matter where i ping to, it will end up failing.
i am trying to remote into work and actually work and i cant, and i'll be damned if i am going to go into the office.
i called the non american outsourced support which is useless unless you know absolutely nothing and dont have the least bit of common sense to reboot your modem, and they setup a service call (i fully expected this)
after a few hours i get an automated call telling me an outage was found and fixed and to call and cancel the service call.
yeah right.
low and behold i check my infinite set of pings to 4 different sites and they are still failing ever 10-20 seconds, once or multiple times.

this is pretty much the gist of how my morning has gone, and my speeds are just retarded.
UPLOAD TESTS ARE SHOWING 128Kbps or LESS and sometimes wont even run.
uplaods are all over the place. averaging about 14mbps...
i pay for 50/5
my modem signals are all over the place.
they were -5 -3 -3 -1 and +47dbmv
after removing my DC6 splitter they went to +5 +4 +1 +3
NOW after not changing anything they are 1 0 1 0 and +41dbmv.
so the upstream is great as is the downstream but its fluctuating on its own which implies a leaky piece of coax somewhere but doesnt really mean thats the reason for the failing pings.
the failing pings may be out of mediacoms network and the reason why they said the issue was resolved (they submitted a trouble ticket to level3 ) but they are crazy if they call this fixed.
