After 18 years I let them talk me into a 2 year contract with my very first DVR. They insisted they install it themselves. The guy installed it and left on New Years eve. I thought how fortunate. After he left we noticed the digital window was blacked out. No time or channel can be seen. Ok we can see that stuff on the TV. No big deal. Then we found we had to stand with the remote 10 inches from the receiver to change the channel, and that didn't always work. I then noticed the lettering was wore off from someone changing the channels on the receiver itself. We have multiple remotes that worked on the other receiver so it wasn't the remote. They are supposed to be coming out tomorrow. Is there any way we can ask for a new one? Instead of one that has been used since 2008? Can we purchase a new one and use it? Now if I decide to go to satellite I'll have to pay a $200 penalty because I agreed to their contract 3 days ago. Thanks
