So I'm hearing lots of raves about Chad! I hope he can help, I'm having the exact same problems as so many people on this site and others are posting. I've been with mediacom since my grandparents passed away 5 years ago and I was kind of grandfathered into the company, so to speak. Our household has a lot of people... and by a lot of people, I mean a lot. Just about all of them utilize the internet-- streams, gaming, you name it.
If more than one gamer or movie-watcher got on a stream or started an online game, our ping would shoot through the roof. We do utilize a router, but after replacing it twice and the issue not clearing up I made the switch to the 50 mbps download package. It cleared things up just fine-- for a while. We started experiencing intermittent drops in connection. I called out several techs and they did all sorts of things... We had our modem replaced, we had the line to the house replaced, the line in the house replaced, we even had one tech go back into the back bedroom and say there was a problem with one of the ground cables connected to a TV box that was somehow interfering with the internet and he disabled it citing that we needed to get it fixed. Well, after all kinds of 'fixes' it seemed as though the problem finally cleared up again. We returned to normal usage, one of my room mates uses the internet to work from home and a quiet space is -required- for him to work as well as connection to the internet. So far so good... until here recently. As in the past couple of days. Ever since that new usage cap stuff has been purported, we've been experiencing all kinds of problems. Today has been the absolute worst. I'd love to follow the 'rules' and get a speedtest post but unfortunately my computer loads the page and then just sits there... indefinitely. It doesn't even time it out it just sits there at 'starting download test' and does nothing. We can't stream anything, web pages are loading extraordinarily slow, and even signing up for this site to make this post has taken me several hours of waiting out page load times.
I did manage to check my 'usage meter' and out of the 999 gbs it says I'm alotted, we've only used about 130 or so. Since today is sunday this is less of a problem and more of an incredible inconvenience. Come tomorrow, however, it will start interfering with the livelihood of a friend of mine and the father of a child, and that's just unacceptable. I pay a lot of money for this service and expect good service to be delivered. Is anyone else in this area (Milton/Pace/Pensacola FL) experiencing such issues? If so, does anyone out there know something I don't?
