I just needed a minute to release this from my brain. My little brother has been dealing with these people for over a month now. He bought his place recently and was going to get Mediacom internet because the site said it went to his place. Everything was going great. They came out and said nope. He can't get it for this reason or another. We live in a semi-rural area of southern Tennessee and they are the only cable in the area. So he began calling around and talking to the competition. All of them say they install using their partner Mediacom. And with others using it to deliver service, has put them out of the running for his business. DSL for internet is out because ATT says he can't get it only dial-up from them and in this day and age, dial-up is impossible. But that's a different issue. Back to Mediacom. He finally got a hold of someone from their forums. They said that they would look into running line to his house. After some time, he got a message today saying that it would cost $7400. This is unacceptable to anyone. Especially when his neighbors on both sides of him have it (I think it's 312' on one side and 500' on the other with a major highway intersection a little less than 1/4 mile away.) It should also be noted that at one time in the past, this house had Mediacom cable. When Mediacom re-ran the lines in the county years ago, they didn't bother going to his house because at the time there was no active service there. Maybe someone will read this and have had the same or similar issue and could have a different idea on how to get a resolution. Mediacom has always been a thorn in the side for my family.
