Here are my initial thoughts of using the TP-LINK TC-7610 modem with Mediacom after about 3 weeks of use. I have the Prime Plus 50/5 internet. This modem has been great so far with no performance issues of any type. The modem keeps consistent speeds of 55+/5+ using DLSReports speed test. Here are some results from random times over the last 5 days: 55.1/6.0, 56.1/6.7, 56.7/6.2, 58.2/5.0, 56.7/5.2, 57.2/6.6, and 58.9/6.2. For my modem, the HW version is 1.0 and SW version is v1.0.1 Build 20150308 Rel62000. The modem is a small unit that supports 8x4 channels (DOCSIS 3.0). I don't have cable TV, so I stream a lot of movies and TV shows. It runs a little warm, but not hot. The web interface does have a couple of quirks. First, when you log in, it refreshes every few seconds. Second, if you change the password to something more then 8 characters, it will only use the first 8 characters for the password.
I live in a rural area in north Alabama and attached is a copy of my signal levels. This was at mid-afternoon (86F, sunny). At night, the downstream power is closer to 0. All of the cables and connections in my house and outside to the pole are older then 2008.
I don't know if Mediacom will support this modem with future software updates. If anyone has a current list of supported modems, please post the link.
I'm happy with this modem so far and it's a good price on Amazon (about $45).
