Hello. I've recently moved into this small town and purchased the 100/10 package from mediacom. I've been having this issue pretty much non-stop since I've gotten here. Can anybody tell me what they think is going on and what I need to tell the technician when the come on the 9th?
Modem: Motorola SB6141
My upload speeds seem to be fine, but my download speeds fluctuate between 3-20mb/s at a given time of the day. Rarely are they above 20mb/s. Mediacom has kind of led me on and first told me it was my modem... Then Told me it was my router... I knew deep in my heart it wasn't but I went ahead and tried out different ones anyway. I'm almost to the point where I may be switching to the town's DSL, but I'd really rather not. Although you would think 20mb/s would be enough to watch an HD stream... They still constantly buffer. I'd sure love to be getting the 100mb down I pay for :)
All the buildings where I am are quite old. I'm sure all the wiring and whatnot is old too, but I'd like to have a good idea as to what to request from the Technician.
Thanks for the help!
