During the night of August 18, 2013 my cable modem rebooted, and my IP address changed from 173.x.x.x to 50.x.x.x. The IP geolocation services used by many websites indicate that my new IP address is located in MINNEAPOLIS, MN, but I live in ALBANY, GA.
- Google flagged my next login as suspicious probably because I live in GA and not MN.
- Typing "pizza" into Google shows restaurants in Springfield, MN.
- Visiting ATT.com shows "MINNEAPOLIS, MN".
It's such an inconvenience when the IP address does not indicate my hometown. Nothing changed on my side with regard to my router, so I'm trying to understand why my new IP address is from MN. Is this occurring with anyone else?
