So what is the policy with Mediacom regarding appointments? I set up an appointment to get an upgrade to Gigabit. I take half a day off of work so I can sit home and wait. I put a message on the door that says "If I don't answer to a knock, to call this number xxx-xxx-xxxx. Time passes. I call during my two hour appointment time window and the robot asks me to confirm. So I confirm. During this time, I LITERALLY SEE A MEDIACOM van drive by my apartment. My appointment time lapses. I then call Mediacom support to see what was going on. They tell me that my appointment was put on hold because no one answered the call before they came. For some reason, they called the wrong number ... the number that was on the account years ago ... YEARS ago. They did not bother to even come up to my apartment so they can SEE the sign that said, call this number ... you know just in case they didn't get the right number and I couldn't hear a knock. So the tech sat in his van, called, was too lazy to get out ... and just left. It was my appointment. It was already on the schedule. How do you not even put a small amount of effort to even go up to an apartment to see if someone is home just in case you weren't given the right number? The last time I had a Mediacom appointment, the two guys who installed everything actually came up and I ran into them in the hallway before they even got to my door.
This would not be a big deal at all if I had all the TIME in the world to get out of work to sit around waiting for some dude to at least get out of his van. Why do I even need a Mediacom tech? I have the modem Mediacom sent me. I have the line. Why can't I just hook it up and they can provision it remotely? So they can measure speeds? Screw it. I'm returning the equipment to the Mediacom office.
My apologies for this rant, but this is the kind of thing that frustrates many people about these companies. We take time out of our day, out of our work ... only to be foiled by a lazy tech not doing his job. I see the Mediacom truck drive by at almost 5PM. He must have had to go home. So he didn't even try.
