Mediacom - Severely dropped internet speeds

Hello all. First time poster here. I've been a Mediacom internet customer for over 20 years and just recently upgraded to their 1gig service about two weeks ago. Three days ago I started having internet drops, around midnight on the 16th. On the morning of the 17th I ran some speed tests and I'm getting 5mb/s down, and about 70mb/s up. Pretty insane. Talked to internet tech support and they told me there's an "outage" in my area and it'll be back up by noon. Took the kids school supply shopping, got back around 4 and nothing had changed. In the past 48hrs I have unplugged the modem four times. Disconnected the coax three times to release static (someone told me to do this about a decade ago and I've done it every time I unplug the modem usually). I called back at 4:30 and they told me the outage was for tv channels only, and had nothing to do with the internet service. I have the new black HiTron (I think, there are no markings) modem with the swivel base and, from what I've been told, it only provides a mac address to one device without paying for the wifi service through Mediacom. I have a beautiful Netgear Nighthawk ac router that provides wifi to my entire house on two bands. So I run the modem directly into that and have an xbox and smart tv "hard wired" to the router. So, as I'm writing this, I am running around .4mp/s Wifi, 4.8mp/s wired. There are six days left of summer break for my children and they can't stream Netflix/Hulu/HBONow or anything else, so my brain is starting to hurt. Any ideas? Soonest they can get a technician out here would be Wednesday of next week.
