I'm attempting to upgrade from the 200mbit (with a SB6190) to the gigabit package with my own SB8200. (And Mediacom still sent me their modem after I asked them not to, so I'm sure I'll have to deal with getting that returned now too... ugh)
I had an installer come out and he couldn't get any signal and declared my modem was bad because the guy on the phone couldn't reach it by its MAC address.
I've only attempted to directly connect the modem to a computer. I've noticed that I'll get a 192.168.100.x IP address after factory resetting the modem for a bit and then I'll get a 10.152.x IP address. If I try to ping the gateway (10.152.144.1), I only get timeouts. I can't ping any of the assigned DHCP servers either. Its like there's no traffic going through the modem. Interestingly, I can ping the gateway after flipping back to my SB6190 (and my internet still works there)
Is there anything else I can do? Does it sound like my modem is dead? It seems like the problem might be upstream from me?
