So, Im helping a friend out with Internet Issues, They weren't getting the full 200 Mbps speed they where paying for, House is very large, 4000 SQ feet or so. They where using an 8 channel modem Thompson 476 with a Belkin N150 router and an ASUS r66u for the main as well as an old LinksysB/G router downstairs
So, I had an old DOCSIS3.0 16 channel, Modem Zoom 5370 I wasn't using so I gave it to them, So, I called in to get it provisioned, 1st rep, (Tier 1 offshore) said give it 20 minutes you'll be good, Well, it happened they didn't see it was provisioned to my old account and they try to add it anyway, (Not known to me at the time), 2nd rep said OK ill add it for you, But its't tied to someones else's account (Mine) so I gave them the MAC addres and got it provisioned to my friends account, On the 2nd call I used my phone to call in somewhere, they got my service of 1Gb on my friends account and now I don't have internet.
1, Why doesn't the system give you the option to remove MAC address from the provisioning system? (I've had about 5 modems on my account over the years
(ZOOM 5370, SB641, SB6183, SB6190 and a UBEE 1301 DOCSIS 3.1 in Bridgemode for the 1Gb Service
2. How did MY 1GB service get on his account when I added my old Zoom 5370 (Which was on the 200 that I had).
3. Why was his service even wiped out?
4. Because offshore uses a VPN to connect to the Mediacom networks it take 4-times as long to do anything as it does when I call during a weekday also, why can't they even answer any of the above questions or any intermediate questions for that matter?
5. Mediacom needs to have all support in the USA cause this outsource thing gives a bad taste in my mouth.
I usually like the Mediacom service I receive but man this as been a big mess.
(Thank goodness I have a Verizon Hotspot)
