Question about customer owned modems

I'm currently on the 200mb plan, or hopefully will be tomorrow. I upgraded from the whatever I was on to 200 the other day, and it just says someone will call me, which is fine. I have my own DPC3010 modem which is 8x4 and has worked fine and is capable of 200. No idea when 500/1gig will come to my area, but I was looking to future-proof and saw this discrepancy. On the "Customer Owned Compatible Modems" site, it lists several with an asterisk, such as the Arris SB8200: "Required for Internet 500 or 1Gig Internet service" http://mediacomcc.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29/~/customer-owned-compatible-modems However, on the Mediacom shopping page where I can actually change my plan, it says this: "If you own your modem, please make sure it is compatible for download speeds starting at 100 Mbps. Both Internet 500 and 1 GIG Internet service require Mediacom modem rental and installation." https://shop.mediacomcable.com/Offers/Customize?id=e3e9cd30-c0a8-3cde-4d7d-95ea09b48e98 So, which is it? Can I have my own compatible modem and do self-install, or do I really have to take off work and rent a modem again?
