I've been getting fairly consistent packet loss with occasional latency spikes over the last few weeks. Its not all day, but comes and goes throughout the day and night. I thought I'd let it go as it wasn't that bad at first, but lately its been bad enough that its starting to take down my VPN a couple times a day. The packet loss is usually between 2% and 6%, but sometimes spikes above 10%. At first the 'sessions' lasted a few minutes and occurred about twice an hour. Now its pretty much non-stop all day. The same as every year prior.
I measure packet loss and latency 24-7 between here and the Mediacom assigned gateway (173.21.01) as well as 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) and 8.8.8.8 (Google). Almost all of the latency starts between here and Mediacom's gateway address, so its definitely within the Mediacom network.
I should mention I have problems every year starting around this time and it almost always ends up lasting through the fall, sometimes into the next year, since it takes Mediacom months and months to figure out where the problem is (its never been here at the house, not once in over a decade). As I am about to post this I am seeing an alert stating 5% packet loss to 173.21.0.1 (Mediacom gateway) over the last 25 seconds ...
EDIT: Immediately after posting this packet loss between here and the gateway shot up to 22% for about a minute, took down both my 'privacy' VPN and work VPN then dropped down to 3%-5% and stayed there for a couple of minutes.
EDIT 2: Its been over 2 hours and the packet loss hasn't stopped. It hovers around 5% and spikes over 10% several times an hour.
