Change Internet IP Address

I'd like to change my internet IP address. In the past it was a simple matter of changing the WAN MAC address on my wireless router, then rebooting my cable modem. However, this is no longer working. I've changed the MAC address and rebooted my modem (and my router) multiple times, but I get the same IP address every single time. I did try leaving my cable modem off for an hour or so, with the same result. I also discovered that a reboot of the cable modem isn't necessary like before. Apparently Mediacom is allowing any device (MAC) to connect. Previously a new MAC could not connect unless the cable modem was rebooted. Has there been a recent policy change at Mediacom with regards to the number of devices that can communicate through a cable modem? I called support, but they were clueless. They did say the only way to change my IP was to get a new cable modem, but this was never true before. Is there any way for me to easily change my internet IP address?
