Wife called while I was on the road at work. Internet down...hard. Kind of started a few days prior with the home phone not ringing. We have phone/internet service with Mediacom. The modem, which I own, is an Arris TM822g telephony modem. The router is a Linksys WRT3200ACM. I got home and began troubleshooting. Basically doing the same thing I requested she do while I was gone. The modem was completely shutdown, battery removed, cable removed and reset at least twice. Once by me. The router was completely reset back to factory settings, powered down, etc. I have IP cameras, a POE switch and Ethernet switch in the basement. They were powered down during testing to eliminate any “issues”. They’ve since been powered back up, and the camera feed is working on the LAN. Basically, the router appears to be working.
Here are the lights that are “on” on the modem. Power light-Green. DS light- solid yellow/amber US light- flashing amber. Link light-solid green. I’ve ordered a replacement modem and it arrives Saturday. Soonest Mediacom can be out is next Tuesday...1 week out evidently. Not ideal. Am I on the right track? Other than a line failure or some such, the modem seems like the culprit. No one else in the neighborhood has a problem.
Any thoughts?
