This has happened several times a year, for many years. Mediacom has some kind of connection drop on their end, and when the connection resumes, I can't get an IP address from DHCP.
I'm not talking about my internal network. I'm talking about the first device connected to Mediacom's equipment, which should be assigned a 173. address.
When this happens, my internal router shows the error "Your ISP's DHCP is not functioning properly". When I connect my laptop directly, I get a 169.(self-assigned) IP address.
Of course the front-line chat/phone agents see that all is good from their end, so that means the only answer is to have a truck roll.
Seems like an issue that their network can't recover properly from a minor connection drop.
