I’m having a problem with my internet connection through Mediacom. It won’t stay connected even though all the lights are lit up on my modem how they’re supposed to be. If I power cycle the modem it will connect for about 2 minutes and disconnect me again even though the modem says it is online. I tried troubleshooting with support and they said it showed that it was connected as well. My computer says that the DNS server is unreachable when it disconnects. I have 2 neighbors who’s service is from Mediacom as well and all 3 of us are ran off the same tap at the pole and their service is working fine.
I originally had a modem from Mediacom but switched to my own about a month ago. After contacting support a couple days ago they said they still had the information for the old modem connected to my account but supposedly they removed it. Could they have possibly done something when they did that which is causing my modem problems? It seemed to be working fine until a couple days ago. I’m baffled why it would show online to Mediacom and all the lights are on properly but it still won’t work.
