Since we got Mediacom's signal back a couple weeks ago, our internet speed has been pretty inconsistent, with periods of extreme slowness. It happened again last night and this morning. The internet became nearly unusable. The downstream power level of the four channels is in the -11 to -16 range, way out of the good range. The upstream level is 54, which is high. the SNR is in the 30 to 34 dB range, which is not good. When our service was good the SNR was locked at 37 or 38. In addition to the internet, the tv signal is having issues as well. A tv that's on a line with an extra splitter is having trouble getting some channels. Even one of the other tvs has had an iffy signal for the Weather Channel HD (don't know about some others channels that don't get watched). I don't know if this is an area-wide issue or just our house, or both. I suspect the periods of extreme slow internet is an area-wide issue, but there is also a wire, that appears to be Mediacom's, up at the pole by our house that is all ripped up, perhaps by a squirrel. However, the line at the pole has been like that for a long time (months before the storm) and we were not having any major issues before the storm.
Edit: Our internet line speed is suddenly back to being pretty good at the moment, even though the signal quality shows no improvement. That is the way it has been for the last two weeks.
