[Cable TV] Bazaar channel numbering since digital cable switchover

I thought maybe I'd ask here before I call in about it. A few years back, Mediacom had some kind of digital migration...I guess maybe they ended their analogue signal? (I'm not talking about broadcast going digital) I don't remember exactly, but when that happened, my Mom's tv started numbering the channels in an impossible to work with fashion, similar to digital broadcast numbering, but different. She is in a nursing home and has the typical 'expanded basic' as far as I can tell. For example, there will be a main channel number, such as '50', and then there will be: 50.001 50.002 50.003 50.004 .... ... ... ... 50.0012 It will be like this for a large number of channels. I know that digital broadcast tv uses single digit markers, such as 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, but this is definitely cable that she has. Also, the channel names do not come up like they typically would, so as you're flipping through, you have no idea what station it is without hunting for the icon in the corner, unless it's on a commercial of course. Obviously something has gone wrong and we want to try and get it back to normal cable numbering with OSD descriptions. Does this sound like the problem is with her tv tuner? Is it that her tv can't interpret the new signal right? Or is this a broadcasting or on site box issue with Mediacom? (she has no box in her room, just the tv) Any help is appreciated. This causes a lot of confusion and headaches.
