Back in December 2012 I asked about pricing for internet service only. At a mediacom phone agent's recommendation I ended up with the "Value V/I Double Play Bundle". That gave me a modem, broadcast basic tv, and prime plus 30Mb internet that cost $54.95 a month before taxes.
Now it's a year later and my bill for the same services has gone up to $79.95. I called mediacom and at first instead of answering my question about the bill, the agent just kept offering me a discount if I would sign a two year contract. When I was persistent she finally told me that my bill had increased because a promotion had ended, and that it would go up again when another promotion ends! I explained that none of this was made clear when I signed up, and asked what our options were to reduce my bill. She said that wasn't possible unless I would sign the aforementioned two year contract with early termination fees.
I'm not interested in a contract, since I may not be in Mediacom territory for another two years. Do I have other options, or should I start contacting other providers?
