[GA] Wireless Modem?

I am located in Albany, GA and I recently signed up for what I believe is the PerformancePak with a 2 year agreement. I am only paying for cable and internet services from Mediacom, no phone. I was scheduled for installation on Friday, February 14 between 8:30 and 9:30 am. On Friday at 8:55 the installer, Davis, called me and said he did not have any "Wireless Modems" in stock and would not be able to complete the installation. I asked him if he could hook up a regular Mediacom modem to one of my wireless routers. He said it may work but he has heard of many problems with people doing this. Apparently my PerformancePak includes TiVo boxes, and the installer said the TiVo boxes run better with Mediacom "Wireless Modems" as opposed to normal modems hooked up to wireless routers. I found the following 2 sites that listed Mediacom approved modems (although they may only be for voice/cable): http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28974483-Best-Mediacom-Cable-Voice-Modem- http://mediacomcable.com/CustomerSupport/forum/index.php?topic=15693.0 I'm not very tech savvy, but from the research and reading I've done, none of the above modems listed in the two websites appear to be "Wireless." I want to buy my own modem and not rent one from Mediacom. What "Wireless Modem" would be suggested that would perform best with the PerformancePak with TiVo boxes. Or is a "Wireless Modem" even required. Would a regular modem hook to a wireless router perform just a well? Thanks!
