Here is an update of my original review (found here http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r28870760-My-Review-of-Mediacom-s-Tivo)
I was lucky enough to score a Pace XG1 in place of the Premier Q. Like I complained about earlier, the Premier Q is too sluggish for me. Most people may not mind it, but I was coming from DirecTV and the change for me was bad.
Now the XG1.........Box is so much faster! There is no lag at all when going through the guide anymore. Only a slight lag in the menus, but nothing bad. This box flies. Recording menu was terribly slow with the Q, but the XG1 is very quick to access them. I wouldn't say it's as fast as the Genie however that's just nitpicking. Any complaint I had about fluidity and sluggishness is gone now. Very impressed with it now.
Also, there is an option to display a clock on the front panel. Great option to have!
There is a new problem that I have encountered now though; Audio cutouts. (had it with DirecTV too) Q never once had it. I would say it happens about once ever 45 mins to an hour. It's quick but certainly noticeable. Since the box is brand new to the market, maybe it's something that can still be resolved with a firmware update.
There are 2 things that absolutely make zero sense to me that could and should easily be fixed. The internal DOCSIS 3.0 modem and the internal MOCA injector are both disabled!? So now I have an extra injector and more coax to try to hide. The Q had the MOCA injector enabled. So now Mediacom has to hand out an $80 injector to every customer who has the XG1. Same for the modem. Seems like its a big waste because essentially they are giving you 2 modems and 2 MOCA injectors. Enabling these would save the company money and allow for a cleaner and faster install. I'm dumbfounded by this. Why have such a badass box available and then cripple it?
Another 'issue' I could see for people is that it only contains a 500GB harddrive. For me, its not that big of a deal, but with other competitors having 1TB+ available, why skimp out? It has 6 tuners (awesome) so I could see a full household filling that up quickly. For myself tho, 500GB should be more that enough.
The only other thing I wish they could change or enable, is the online access to Netflix, like the Roamio has. Maybe it's disabled because they want you to take advantage of their VOD service, but with built in Netflix, people will be still using the mediacom bandwidth to stream.
All in all tho, I am much happier with the XG1. IMO, this is only box that should be offered with the Mediacom Tivo offering. It's a much better experience!!
Thanks MediacomChad for everything!!
