For the past month, my internet connection (in Nevada, IA) has been dropping at random times during the day. It seems like it loses all but one downstream channel and then completely drops out. Power levels are around 0 -1 dBmV, noise ratio is around 35.
First tech that came out put a filter right before my modem and said there were some line issues in the area. Got a call over the July 4th weekend that those line issues were resolved, but my connection was still dropping.
Second tech changed the fittings on the side of my house and said it was my modem (Cisco DCP3008) and that I should get a new one. So I bought a new modem (SB6121) activated it, and the connection was still dropping.
I decided to try live support. That person told me my modem was disabled, that they had fixed it and said, "I assure you this will work." It didn't.
Then I had a third tech out today who said he saw nothing wrong and that there were only two houses on my line. He suggested it might be the neighbor turning on their TV and causing interference.
I called in tonight hoping to talk to someone higher up than level 1, but I guess they have limited power and couldn't do anything other than create a ticket and escalate it. I have my doubts about that given my past experiences, so I figured I would give this a shot.
