[IA] Bad Underground Cable Run - What Now?

This post is a continuation of the thread I initially posted here: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r29769445-IA-Disappointed-Customer-Scheduled-Onsite-Response-Time The technician came out promptly and very professionally and he was quickly able to determine there was a problem with the underground cabling between the pedestal and my home. He put a new crimp connector at the pedestal, but back at the exterior of the house he still had no signal. He mentioned that we could possibly run an above ground cable run to get me up and going, but since it involved entering my neighbors property he wanted to speak to his supervisor first. I was OK with that given it was 5:15PM and almost dark, but his supervisor would be in touch with me tomorrow. However, I just received an email saying my visit today was "cancelled" so I'm not sure what that means? Will I be receiving any sort of confirmation of whatever communication will be done tomorrow? It has me worried that today's visit was "cancelled" so any continuation of work has and will be deemed finished. 1) Does Mediacom have an easement to allow for a temporary cable run above the ground, or is it something they'll have to ask the neighbors permission for? (Hopefully me snowblowing their driveway paid dividends, in that case) Perhaps Mediacom's underground cable runs are done in conduit so it would be a simple pull through job? The above ground run would be possible for a short time, but it'd be a mess for anything longer than early spring. It'd be about 75 yards of cable if routed in a way that wouldn't clothesline the dogs or trip anyone walking in the back yard. 2) It didn't help anything that the pedestal was broken into a few pieces with a bunch of snow in it, but without going into my neighbors property, I wouldn't have known. Not sure what recourse of action would need to be taken to get that fixed... Can anyone offer suggestions to what's the best logical play here? Ultimately I'm posting so I don't have to think on my toes tomorrow when I'm contacted. Any help, advice, or insight into the variety of questions would be great! [att=1]
