Hello, I previously had Mediacom at my old apartment for 3 years and barely had many issues, the only few I had was resolved in the first few months at my old address and my last issue (before I moved) was a routing issue on a particular game I played.
Now at my new address for a week now, I experience my internet and cable tv cut out every 30 minutes. There is a large spike on ping plotter usually occurs 25 after the hour and 55 after the hour. My cable modem signals vary from around -8 on the power during the day and around -5 to -6 at night / late am. I have been constantly monitoring my findings with pingplotter just doing simple traces. At first I thought maybe it was the same routing issue I had at my old address (which was never resolved) but then I started noticing my TV cable would cut out and also the past 3-4 days I have been tracing only www.google.com (just to be sure it wasnt only my game)
The results are pretty ridiculous... Sometimes I am lucky and it only disconnects 25 minutes after the hour and sometimes skips the 55 minutes past the hour, but during the daytime it does it on both. if I am in an online game I will be disconnected such as guild wars 2 which is an mmo, counter strike when in a match my player will just freeze and unable to move (luckily the disconnect timeout is shorter than guild wars 2 so I am not kicked out), if I am doing online surfing the page won't load until my internet comes back...
The pingplotter results ARE with my router which is a wrt610n v1.0 and it does have dd wrt mega firmware on it... I have been using this same exact firmware for about 4 years (even before mediacom) and the router hasn't had barely any issues so I think its safe to say the router isn't causing my expected disconnected that occur 25 and 55 minutes past the hour.
I would like to attach or email somebody my results with pingplotter (my trial expires in a couple days, so if there is a similar program to pingplotter for free would be much appreciated)
Can somebody please help me and tell me whats causing the issue? I have a technician coming out Saturday to see whats going on but it would be helpful to let him know what to do instead of just showing him a bunch of pingplotter results from Google and try explaining to him the issue of my internet and cable cutting out.
My latest result from pingplotter is in the attachment and its all fresh from yesterday and today. If a mediacom representative would like me to post the older results from the previous days I can send then in an IM or email. Also if requested I can eliminate my router and do a direct connect to my modem, but I don't think this is whats causing the issue.
