Since my last renegotiated 2yr service plan (negotiated w/"Retention" in Dec 2017), I've had a line in my "Bundle Services" section that says "HDTV 525 Equipment." I always believed that corresponded to an HD-DTA that was previously listed in the "Individual Services" section as "HD DTA - Add'l", but was drawn into my bundle by the retention CSR to meet an attractive price point. My contention is further supported by the fact that my HD-DTA is the Pace version of the Arris DCX525. (Since Pace and Arris merged, it's not unreasonable that Mediacom would refer to all such devices by their Arris model number.)
But now I'm in a bit of a controversy w/Mediacom about this HD-DTA. I've gotten 3 different answers from 3 different Mediacom reps, all claiming that the "HDTV 525 Equipment" line has nothing to do with my HD-DTA, and that I should be paying a separate $3.99 charge for it under my "Individual Services" section. It just seems like an incredibly strange coincidence that the line has '525' in it (corresponding to the model number of my device), and that it appeared exactly when the new bundle took effect (and the "Individual Services" charge for it went away on the exact same bill back in Dec 2017).
Does anyone else have "extra equipment" in their negotiated bundle, with an entry similar to mine (e.g. HD XXX Equipment)? Or am I the only one in all of Mediacom with this "billing error."
Chad, can you weigh in on this? You seem like a seasoned, stand-up kind of guy. My experience has been the retention folks seem have quite a bit of latitude to build custom packages to meet customer needs, but I have no idea if they actually document exactly what they intended when the new contract is put in place. I certainly never received any such detail. All I have is what I can observe in the billing statements.
Thanks for any help anyone can provide.
