Mediacom's new rates made me GASP. Since I am retired and on income that does not increase as fast or high as Mediacom Rates, I gave them a call to reduce my Bill. Specifically I wanted to cancel HBO which had gone up to $18 a month. I had been on a HBO Promo for years at $9.50 a month. HBO isn't worth $18 a month.
After getting a MC Rep I was told I had to give my Social Security number to Mediacom before I could change my programming. HUH? Trusting Mediacom with my SSI# is a non starter. I was then told after refusing to give out my SSI number I would need to give MC my Driver License Number? NOPE, ain't gonna do that either. I have been a MC customer for 9 plus years, same address and always pay my bill on time. Now WHY do they NOW need my personal information?
After I convinced the MC Rep she was not going to get my SSI #, the Rep relented and said: As a one time Courtesy I will take your MC PIN which is on my bill. Mediacom is now doing me a favor (Courtesy) to change my Billing?????
Well, Mediacom, if giving you my SSI# is a new prerequisite for your service, this customer is going BYE BYE.
WHAT IS GOING ON? Is anyone actually giving MC their Social Security number??
