Hi All -
Is anyone experiencing any connection issues using an SB8200 modem? We recently had a tech out to address some issues with our TiVo connection (fixed an outside ground problem as well as installing a proper splitter for use with a MoCa adapter). During and even after these issues, we've had no problem with speeds or dropped connections on the internet side of things. We awoke this morning to find our internet completely down. After ~1.5 hours troubleshooting with a tech, it was determined that there may be an issue with our modem. I promptly replaced the modem with the same model, and am experiencing the same issue. With the first modem, I was able to establish a connection by moving the ethernet cable to the 2nd port in the modem, as for some reason it was no longer recognized in port 1. Same issue with the replacement modem. Speeds on both modems are hovering at a dismal ~2MBPS, whereas yesterday and before the tech call, were at roughly 250MBPS. I've tried troubleshooting, including:
- Removing the MoCa adapter for our Tivo boxes and wiring directly to the modem.
- Swapping out LAN cables connected to the switch and router
- Circumventing the router/switch entirely using two different LAN cables connected directly to a desktop (again, only the second port on the modem works now, with aforementioned speeds)
- Edit: Adding that I also swapped out the recently installed Mediacom splitter (an Extreme Broadcast Engineering IPGSM04D-VF) to the previously installed splitter from the line running into the house with the same speed issues. Also swapped what the tech installed on the side of the house with the previously installed "splitter", and also no effect.
Again, everything worked just fine yesterday and no connections have been moved or changed, aside from troubleshooting today. (I should add that modem specs are within acceptable levels.) We currently have the earliest appointment for a tech to come out, which is the 24th. Unfortunately, as I work from home this might not be feasible once I run out of cell data (tethering to my work machine).
Any thoughts are appreciated!
Thanks in advance.
