As the title says, I have an Askey TCG310 which is the modem/router/eMTA combo. I see that it has internal MoCA 2.0 (according to its entry in the Mediacom list of issued modems). What I'd like to do is enable MoCA on the TCG310, then install a MoCA adapter in another room that has an existing coax connection and connect the MoCA adapter to a wireless router. Will this work?
I had CenturyLink Fiber at my old house and I used a DECA system to extend the network through coax, using a wireless router on the other end. I'm thinking I can do something similar with MoCA, but it doesn't sound like the old DECA devices will work now that the internet itself is through coax.
Has anyone else done this? From my research, it seems like the main caveat is to make sure the POE filter is in the right place. I already plan on moving it to where the cable comes into the house.
