I made an appointment for 3-5 Friday to get the Tivo package. The physical line coming into the apartment building is about 10 feet off the ground and the installer had to borrow one of the neighbors stepladders to reach it. I noticed as he was leaving he had a ladder on the roof of his van but apparently didn't want to go to the effort of using it. The box was padlocked and he didn't have a key for it, he called his supervisor who knew nothing about it. His next plan was to use bolt cutters which of course he didn't have and come back 8-10 the next morning (Saturday).
Fast forward to 10:30 Saturday when I call him to ask where he is and apparently dispatch had actually scheduled him for 10-12. He's swamped at another job at this point so he's going to try and find another tech to do our install.
The apartment complex had given me the name of a sales rep/installer who gave us a good deal on service and was nothing but excellent through every interaction we had. For some reason Mediacom doesn't allow their actual employees to perform Tivo installs and contracts out the work. This person was able to at least connect our internet service Saturday and basic tv was installed at the same time.
Fast forwarding again to 4:30 Saturday with no word about when our Tivo will be installed and I call the sales rep who calls the installer to find out what's going on. The installer tells the sales rep that our installation was put on hold because we supposedly didn't have the release from the complex to run new cable lines through the walls. This release was obtained before we moved in and was seen by the installer Friday when he was here.
At this point we have internet service which is great and basic digital cable which wouldn't be as big of a problem if I hadn't already paid for the installation and service in July for something we don't have.
I'm perfectly fine with naming names and the sales rep/installer that has helped us out a ton and been there through everything should get the credit and commission he deserves.
