Looking for any advice to help solve my Intermittent Internet issues. I had a technician out today and thought it was fixed, but had another brief outage tonight. Here are responses to the 9 questions. 1. Internet connection intermittent then went out completely for a few days. Mediacom technician replaced corroded connectors today and got it working with good signal strength. Then tonight it was intermittent again. 2. Router is an ASUS RT-AC66R with firmware 3.0.0.4.260, which is reported as the latest firmware. 3. Modem is a Cisco DPQ2160. Hardware Version 2.0 & Software dpq2160-v202r12811-090120as. 4. Receive Power Level -1.4 dBmV; Transmit Power Level 38.2 dBmV. Internet is working at these levels. During a recent outage, the receive power was approx -3.0 dBmV. 5. Flash speed test: 6. Line quality: 0% loss latency 27.5ms 7. Windows 8. 8. 24 hour Smokeping started. No results yet. Problems started intermittently last Friday night. Saturday afternoon I lost Internet connectivity completely until after midnight Tuesday morning, the day the technician was scheduled to arrive. Connectivity was lost again early this (Tues) morning 30 minutes before technician arrived. Technician replaced corroded connectors outdoors and got the system working with 0 dBmV receive level. That very night while watching a streaming video, I lost the Internet again. The receive level was about -3 dBmV when the Internet was down. I thought that was too low, so scheduled another technician visit. I have since learned that level should be okay, so am trying to figure out where my problems might be. If a -3 dBmV receive level is okay, my suspicions are with the modem or the router. The LAN side of the router works great. During the original outage I connected my PC directly to my modem and it still didn't work so I eliminated the router as the issue at that time, but tonight it did work directly although, it may have been coincidence that connectivity came back while I was connecting the Ethernet cable directly. 9. I am running AVG AntiVirus free version. The Firewall settings of ASUS RT-AC66R are enabled by default.
