I've posted about this issue both here and on the mediacom support forums, but I wanted to make a thread detailing the problem - Primarily to get all of it written out, but if there is any advice that can be given I'd appreciate it. I have a tech coming out this Friday, so I'm mostly trying to arm myself and others with knowledge.
For a long time now, I've been getting signal fluctuations that are causing T3 timeouts, modem reboots, and cable TV pixelation. The TV will pixelate and I'll quickly login to my Motorola SB6141's interface and see the upstream power level has increased by about 10dBmV (to 52 or so) and the downstream has decreased by about 5dBmV. Correctables and uncorrectables begin quickly rising. Finally, the SNR drops from 38-39 when stable, to 36-37 when unstable. When things are stable, like right now, the levels look great and in spec. See attachment #1.
I've tried all kinds of things, including a new modem, and re-arranging the wiring. Currently, the line that enters my house goes to a 3-way splitter, the modem is connected directly to the -3.5dBmV line, and two DVRs are connected to the -7dBmV line. I also have tried with the modem on a tap and the problem persisted, with the splitter not involved. I've checked all connections inside the house, and replaced coax cables where I can.
Basically, my signal levels I think look great most of the time, but then inexplicable spikes occur. As a side note, sometimes the TV pixelates even without a noticeable change in the internet modem's power levels or increase in uncorrectable codewords. But nearly always the spikes in power cause pixelation.
Like I said, tech is coming out on Friday, but if anyone has any advice prior to that point it would be appreciated. I actually canceled my previous tech appointment because I thought by changing the wiring a bit I had fixed it - It was stable for 5 days, but then got bad again on Saturday.
EDIT: It just got bad again, attaching the new signals
