It seemed to take forever but thanks to the guys at the Mediacom service forum.
After over a month of frustration with constant brief connection drops and a week of modem reboots and failures to connect Mediacom replaced my cable drop 2PM Monday. I monitor downtime and log failures. In the two days since receiving the new drop there have been zero failures compared to over 50 per day before the service. As shown below, my signal levels are all very good. Particularly significant are the results for code word errors--there have been no uncorrectable errors and only 7 correctable errors. I'm confident that I can stop logging downtime.
This page displays information on the status of the cable modem's HFC and IP network connectivity.
