Last night I couldn't get a 7mb pdf from work pc (frontier bonded dsl) to make at home without the pdf being no good. This a.m. it took. Super frustrated and I did check the work pc for errors. Seems to be mediacoms ends. Tried downloading from newsgroup, total failure. I sure hope they can fix soon, I am losing my patience.

[IL] What happened to my IPv6 address?

Everything was working fine until last week (confirmed with test-ipv6.com and ipv6-test.com). Now my router is not getting an address. I haven't changed a single thing. I unplugged my modem and turned off my router before leaving for work the other day to see if that would solve the problem, but IPv6 is still not working. The person I spoke with claimed that everything looked OK on his end, but that he couldn't help me because I own my modem. Is there anybody from Mediacom who can provide some answers?

[Cable HSI] Intermittent Outages again

Spring is here? Intermittent outages. More prevalent since warm up. Most frequently at daybreak through sunset. Modem does not always indicate losing sync via lights but maybe 50 % of the time. TV tiling / blocking during resyncs with or without modem lights changing. ( UD/DS/Sync stay lit most of the time, but activity goes out for 30 seconds or so before logs indicate a resync. Funny thing is last summer this occured twice but at a different house and different modems. Hmmm. Help Chad?

[IL] Download speeds are consistently 1/5 to 1/3 of the advertised speed

I'm hoping someone can help me solve my ridiculous internet speed issues before all of my hair is gone. I have Mediacom internet service and over the past two months I've been having serious speed issues. I used to have their 50 Mbps package, rented a modem from them, and used my own wireless router. Speeds and reliability weren't always great, but not bad enough to get upset about. I decided to buy my own modem to save money and at the same time I upgraded to a higher speed, their 150Mbps package. I went with the Arris (Motorola) SBG6580 modem/router combo. The issues were apparent right away (I'm not getting into details now because this is no longer my modem). Mediacom sent out three techs. The first appointment checked my components and found the signal to be weak at the Mediacom entrance point. So they set another tech out to fix the signal where their service enters my area. Afterwards I continued to have the same issue. So the third tech came and right away pointed to my modem to be the issue without testing anything. He said the Surfboard combos (my SBG6580) are nothing but junk. I went out and purchased a different standalone modem. Its a Zoom DOCSIS 3.0, model 5345 series 1112. This is my current modem. I also put back in place my router which is a Netgear N600 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router, model WNDR3800. With my current setup, I have never seen a speedtest better than 87Mbps while directly wired into my modem. A good test might get me 50Mbps, but I actually average a little under 20Mbps. Having my router connected to the modem and then computer wired to the router gets about the same results but have never seen the 80Mbps speed. I also have an issue with consistency. Back-to-back tests can result in completely different speeds. Just tonight I tested three straight times on speedtest.net using the same server: 68Mbps -> 31Mbps -> 15Mbps. Wireless has the same issues only a bit worse. Let me know if you want any wireless stats to help. At this point, whenever I call Mediacom they are unable to help or explain the situation. They only try to send out another tech. Honestly, I turn them down at this point. I can't keep taking days off work to be at home waiting for a tech to come make zero difference. My general device connections are as follows.. Wireless: 4 mobile devices, three computers. Wired: DirecTV box, Raspberry Pi, Xbox. I generally notice sluggish performance while wirelessly using my computer, but always go test hard wired after limiting the other devices connected. I am going crazy over this. I can't even get the 50Mbps I used to get with Mediacom! I really need some help. Let me know what info you want and I'll get it for you. Let me know what steps to take for testing and I'll do it.

I have a family member that lives right across the street from Mediacom coax lines, they wanted service for years and years but the tech's would never get them service. I called and got a site survey and the tech told me that house is not serviceable however it wouldn't take much to get it serviceable he just doesn't think the company is going to spend the time and money to do so for one customer. I would like to know if who do I contact to see about getting them service even if we have to do a business account for a 10/1 service that would be okay but they rather have a faster speed.

[MO] Packet loss and slow speeds in the evening

This has been ongoing for several days now. Basically, my connection is exactly as it should be for most of the day, but sometime later in the evening each day it goes screwy. When it happens, I've run the new speed test and it shows very low DL with fairly normal UL speeds. Everything on the modem diagnostics seems fine. Also, when it happens, if I run WinMTR or just cmd ping, I tend to see up to 25% packet loss to the first mchsi gateway hop. Usually, if I reboot my modem it goes back to normal for a while, but not always. After a few hours it goes back to being very slow and lots of packet loss at the gateway. When I wake up in the morning and test it, it's back to normal and the cycle seems to continue. I just rebooted the modem now, and speeds are workable again, but I'm not sure how long it will last. Basically, I'm not sure if it's my modem or the gateway. Let me know if I need to post/run any diagnostics

[MO] Springfield, MO internet issues

I have moved to two different places in Springfield, MO and I need internet with low latency. At my old house with Mediacom the latency was pretty bad and I had a lot of jitter. Well, I moved to another part of town annd same problem with different equipment. I have tried switching everything on my network (cables, computers, routers, modems) and was led to believe that my wiring was bad at my old house. This is clearly Mediacom at fault. I am moving again in a few days and I bet the internet will still be bad. Oh yeah, I was also told at both places on different equipment that my signal was bad.

Don't know why, but PD is broken on the new firmware. Here is a Comcast thread I started and uid://1039313 has the same problem https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r30716506-IPv6-Prefix-Delegation-on-updated-SB6141 uid://1912296 also has an SB6141 on mediacom and no PD

[GA] Constant disconnects throughout the day. Think it's a line issue.

I own an Arris SB6183 modem, it is not leased through Mediacom. Lately this past month I have been experiencing constant disconnects. I believe it might be an issue some where along the long. Before I call support to have someone come out, what are some things I can do on my side of the pole to try and correct these issues? I have seen the Power get to -5.5 dBmV with Corrected and Uncorrectables reaching 35,000+ before the modem restarts. Is there any way to get info on what they are fixing/updating? I know with every other service I have that when it goes down and back up there are patch notes.

[IA] 2nd IP address

$

I finally ditched my crappy century link dsl today. I have read, several places here, that mediacom offers additional IP addresses for $5/mo. I tried to call customer service 2 times, first time, they tried to sell me wireless, this guy had no clue what I wanted. now the 2nd different support rep says "that's only avail for business accounts"? If so, that sucks. Years ago, I remember running 2 different pcs after a switch, with 0 routers, and always got 2 different ip addresses free. Now I am willing to pay the extra cost and today i tried the same thing and can get nothing to the 2nd machine, or router, after the switch. I'm hoping this 2nd customer support rep is wrong, I could swear not long ago this was discussed here and Chad said it was possible. Chad please tell me they are wrong.

[IA] Second IP address

Is it possible and is it cost effective. My son and I are getting into playing some PC games together now and when we connect together, we have issues were anti cheat programs see 2 players with the same IP and kick one of us from a game server, or just getting connection issues when both of us play. I wonder if adding a second IP address and using a second router configured to the different ip addresses would be a viable solution to the gaming issues.

[Cable HSI] Will Mediacom ever allow unlimited data?

$

Will Mediacom ever have an option where you can pay a little bit more for unlimited monthly data for Residential accounts? For example, Comcast/XFinity has $35/month extra for unlimited (soon to become $50/month extra). http://customer.xfinity.com/help-and-support/internet/exp-unlimited-enroll Obviously data caps/thresholds/overages are BS, but they still do exist for residential accounts, and we have to deal with them. I am tired of paying data overages every month, and would gladly pay $35/month extra to have unlimited data... if it is truly unlimited.

[Cable TV] New MC Tivo Update

Mediacom recently added the HBOGO app to the Mediacom Xtream Tivo. They also added the Hulu and WWE app. This is great news, especially the HBOGO app. The MC HBO on Demand is worthless as it has very little HD content. OTOH HBOGO is almost ALL HD. My question is do these Tivo apps use your internet usage meter or are they like the MC On Demand and bypass the internet usage cap meter?? Also please add Showtime Anywhere app, Turner Classic app and all the other premium apps so your customers can enjoy HD instead of the worthless lame MC On Demand which has mostly UGH - Standard Def.

so i log in to day to check balance and i notice im enrolled in ecobilling that i never asked to be enrolled in. click edit and change that. (i dont do paperless, most companies dont use accessible PDF's, they have to be formatted a certain way and that was is not the way you see the bill) second i see a $10 charge that was reversed. so i take a look. overage. uh pardon me? [att=1] [att=2] [att=3] im sure ill get some message about how gracious they are for giving me a credit for the first overage. i dont buy it. 1 desktop, 1 ipad, 1 nexus 7. no netflix, no hulu, no amazon streaming. yeah no. and unless my neighbor figured out how to crack a 25 digit wpa2 + aes key, no intruders on the network. (which is moot since the figures dont match)
