So many issues - Now i can't connect to VPN, or remote desktop

I started to have issues about a month ago with my main tivo box rebooting, i've had 2 engineers out, and continue to have issues. The tivo box was switched out, but the problems persist. It seems that if have the main tivo box plugged into either the coax (moca), or plugged into the modem via ethernet, the tivo box reboots (if the tivo box is plugged in to power/hdmi, it stays powered on, as soon as coax cable is plugged in, tivo box goes into a reboot cycle. Same if ethernet cable from modem is plugged into tivo box) Last week i was shipped a new modem, the tech who "helped" provision the new modem wasn't much help, and didn't understand why there was only 1 SSID listed (though there was 2 setup on the previous modem) (figured out the issue myself, the same SSID was used for both 2.4 & 5ghz networks (which is different to how it was setup previously)) Since the new modem was provisioned i am no longer able to vpn to my work vpn (using the standard windows 10 vpn), also i cannot remote desktop (or chrome remote desktop) into any of my pc's from outside of my network, and i cannot connect to my plex server from outside of the network. Mediacom support said that i need to open ports (I'm using the mediacom technicolor modem as i have phone service, and i'm using moca for multi room dvr), and when i asked how i can open ports seeing as i don't have the option on the gateway dashboard, they (mediacom support) then changed their tune and said i cannot control which ports that are open. I don't understand why i didn't have issues with things like my work vpn connection previously. Mediacom support suggested i could buy my own modem/router, but i don't know of a Docsis 3.1 compatible modem that i can use with moca & mediacom phone service (support sent me a link of compatible modems, but none support my 1gig service and let me use my phone service). I'm waiting for the 3rd tech to come out on Saturday, but don't hold out much hope, the last 2 tech's blamed it on the splitter, and switched it out. The first tech blamed the tivo box rebooting after switching it out on firmware updates, and 2nd tech left me with the box not rebooting (at that time), but getting V52 error on the tivo box. The tivo box started to reboot itself shortly after the tech left.
